Calling all Artists and Creatives!

Bring your costume creations and join the parade for free!

This 2nd annual central Iowa event melds art, science and human ingenuity as we celebrate biodiversity and the awakening spring. We offer people of all ages a way to honor and learn about other species that we are, in some way, dependent upon, including plants, insects, mammals, birds and reptiles.

Why do we need your help?

To better integrate this event into the fabric of central Iowa cultural life and involve as many people

as possible in this great event, we are looking for a variety of artists, creatives and educators to help us  publicize and prepare for this event, and join the celebration for the big day.

Molly Nagel, 2016 Aritist-in-Residence, is coordinating the Call For Artists for the

All Species One Earth event. Please contact her (see footnote) with any

questions about your level of involvement.

A printable version of this Call For Artists is available below.

The involvement we are encouraging for this event includes:

- Presentations and performances for the event, either to take place in the library or in

  Bandshell Park

- Teaching classes or workshops in mask, costume and puppet making for all ages at all

kinds of venues (tell us what you’re planning on teaching and when, and we will promote

it for you!) We also have some grant funding available for arts teaching for this event.

- Creation of original costumes, parade puppets or masks to include in the event.

- Organizing groups of individuals to attend or volunteer for the event, such as Boy Scouts

and Girl Scouts, 4-H, school groups, clubs and businesses

- Encouraging involvement from area schools and university groups to participate

If you are interested in participating or have more questions

Please contact the event’s Artist in Residence, Molly Nagel, at (319) 360-3273

or email at nagel.molly@gmail.com. We are open to all kinds of ideas associated

with honoring and celebrating Earth and all the life around us and would love to

hear from you!
